Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, on Tuesday in Abuja inducted 2,000 beneficiaries of SURE-P on Information Communications Technology (ICT) capacity building.
The minister said at the occasion that the programme, which was organised for unemployed youths, would run for six months.
According to him, the programme will form the hub of the nation’s certified and skilled manpower in the ICT industry.
Gerald Ilukwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Back Bone National ICT Centre, pledged the company’s commitment to the programme, to empower the youth.
He thanked the government for the opportunity to train the beneficiaries and commended its efforts at tackling unemployment in the country.
Ilukwe urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity provided to develop their skills in the ICT enterprise.
The induction was for unemployed Nigerian graduates and non-graduates.
The programme is targeted at building their capacity in the ICT sector, through the deployment and utilisation of an ICT platform.
