Umina a young mother of
mother-of-two, from New South Wales, had booked into be induced and had planned
for a calm water birth later that day, but her unborn baby had other ideas. According
to her 'The pains were really
light and I didn't even mention them to my
partner Matt who is 30 because he was about to take our
two-year-old son Malakai for a bike ride and I didn't want to worry him,' Ms Johnson told
Daily Mail Australia.
'But after 10 minutes the pains were getting worse and as he was about to walk
out I started crying and told him that maybe he shouldn't go anywhere.
'Matt took our son to my mum's house, who lives a few minutes
away, and I got into the shower and the pains were getting a lot worse...
that's when I realised it was labour.'
Ms Johnson's contractions were around two minutes apart and
lasting 30 seconds each so she jumped out of the shower, got dressed and headed
to the hospital
When we got in the car I told Matt he needed to ring the hospital to let them know we were coming as we were around 25 minutes away,' Ms Johnson said.

'We started driving and the pain was getting really bad and it all
started to become a blur... we were about five minutes from the hospital and
all of a sudden I just felt this overwhelming need to push.
'It changed. I could feel the baby moving down and it was a
different feeling. I could feel his head starting to move down. But because I
was in so much pain I couldn't tell Matt that the baby was coming.'
The healthy three kilogram newborn was born in his caul - an extremely rare occurrence where the baby is born with the amniotic sac still around its head and body.

Mr Sing helped Ms Johnson deliver her baby and burst into tears as
he helped cut the umbilical cord.
Ms Johnson's entire labour was just 45 minutes - significantly
shorter than her first labour which was three hours.
Ms Johnson said she was able to get through the experience
by not being too emotional and focusing on 'being in the zone.'
'I had to pretend that nobody was around and ignore all the people
in the car park as I think it would have put me off and it would have been a
lot harder,' she said.
'I am nervous about how short the next labour could be... I think
we both are!'
